Pictured (left to right) at the 2009 Day at the Races are Suzanne Aronowitz '00, Gina Riitano '00 & T.J. Conti '97; Cindy & Marcus Pryor '87 P'15; and Roxanne Delarge P'09, '14, Bob Walsh & Rosemary Daoud Walsh '77 P'07, '09, '10, '13.

More than 30 alumni/ae, parents of alumni/ae and current parents gathered for the 2009 Day at the Races on August 1 at The Rail at the Saratoga Race Track.

Attendees enjoyed an exciting day of world-class horse racing, all of the amenities at the track and a chance to reconnect with classmates, parents and friends of the Academies community.

"The 2009 Day at the Races was a great event to connect with other current AA/AAG parents and alumni/ae in a relaxed and informal setting," said attendee Marcus Pryor '87 P'15. "I hope this annual event draws more people each year to not only enjoy horse racing in Saratoga, but also to continue to develop and experience the rich connections we have within the Academies community."

This will be a new annual event so save the first weekend of August for next year!

Academies selects new Head of School

image

Our newly appointed Head of School Dr. Douglas North '58 (pictured at left) spent time on campus during July and August. Dr. North brings an impressive level of experience to the Academies as a university president for the past 20 years.

He has led two remarkable turnarounds --both in enrollment and finances -- for Prescott College in Prescott, AZ and most recently at Alaska Pacific University (APU) in Anchorage, AK.

We hope that you will join us on Friday, September 25 during Homecoming 2009 as the Board of Trustees hosts a reception to welcome Dr. North.

We will gather from 6-8 p.m. in the AAG Courtyard for light refreshments and hors d'oeuvres. Join us for this wonderful opportunity to meet with Dr. North and hear about his vision for the Academies. Please RSVP no later than September 16. Click here to register online or contact the Office of Alumni/ae Relations at (518) 429-2425.

Stay tuned for more opportunities this school year to meet with Dr. North and welcome him to our campus!
