The Albany Academies e-newsletter Week of September 28
Homecoming 2009 brings Academies community together!
Homecoming weekend brought many families, alumni/ae and friends to the Academies this past weekend to meet new friends, enjoy beautiful weather, play some golf and tennis and watch outstanding athletic contests.
In addition, a new AAG Swimming Record Board (that includes both school and all-time pool records) was unveiled on Friday before the AAG Varsity Swim meet. Friday's activities concluded with a special reception hosted by the Board of Trustees to welcome new Head of School Dr. Douglas North to the Academies and a Movie Night featuring a screening of "Remember the Titans."
Saturday's activities included a tailgating event with carnival games prior to the Homecoming football game. In addition, the first ever Faculty Chili Cook-Off featured a variety of delicious recipes for parents, students, faculty and alumni/ae to enjoy! A special thank you to the generosity of our parents, alumni/ae and the Board of Trustees who helped support several of the activities throughout Homecoming.

Kelsey competed in three singles matches in the G-15 (girls under 15) category. Congratulations to Kelsey for this impressive accomplishment!
AA football players received a special treat recently when Derek Brown, former Tight End for the New York Giants, visited football practice to address the Varsity & Junior Varsity teams. Mr. Brown spoke about his high school football career, being recruited by Notre Dame and winning the National Championship, and being drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft by the New York Giants. Mr. Brown stressed to the players the importance of focusing on doing the "little things" right every time in practice and during games. Pictured left to right above are AA Varsity Football Coach Tony Fruscio, Mr. Brown & AA JV Football Captain Wyatt Pritchard (Form III).
