    Position Summary
    The Director of Advancement is responsible for overseeing a robust fundraising program that engages individuals and institutional funders in support of the school’s mission. The Director leads a creative and nimble team to engage stakeholders from across the school’s community in meeting or exceeding annual and capital fundraising targets.
     
    The Director will join The Albany Academies at an exciting time. Following the successful completion of a Capital Campaign in 2020 ($23M), The Albany Academies is preparing to launch a new Campaign focused on securing funds for endowment, critical infrastructure improvements, and academic program resources to further the school’s newly released Campus by Division and Restructuring plans.
     
    Reports to: Head of School
     
    Direct Reports: Manager Annual Giving & Stewardship, Database Administrator

    Responsibilities
    • Lead the Advancement Office
    • Develop a data-driven, analytics-based understanding of existing and prospective donors’ philanthropic priorities
    • Align fundraising activities with the priorities set forth by the Head of School and the Board of Trustees
    • Create a structured approach to special events and fundraising campaigns, and participate in their execution to optimize their impact
    • Foster relationships with parents, alumni, alumnae, and potential partners
    • Work with the Head of School, Board of Trustees, Trustee Committees, and the Senior Leadership Team to engage them in philanthropic initiatives
    Qualifications
    • Education: Bachelors (required) Master’s (preferred)
    • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
    • Leadership experience at an academic institution
    • Outstanding results in all aspects of institutional advancement
    • Strong relationships with a wide range of constituents in the community

    FLSA Status – Exempt
     
    Assignment type: Full-time, 12-month

    Compensation Range: $100,000 - $120,000

    • Generally, the role is conducted in a heated and cooled office environment
    • Most of the work is done sitting or standing
    • Routinely move about inside the Advancement office and across the campus
    • Regular travel by car, train and plane
    • Frequent interaction and communication with others speaking, listening, and typing
    • Ability to operate office equipment including computers, printers, copiers, and the like

    Position Summary

    The Director of Marketing & Communications leads and manages all aspects of external communications on behalf of The Albany Academies.

    Reports to: Head of School

    Direct Reports: Manager, Marketing & Communications, Special Events Coordinator & Multi-Media Coordinator

    Responsibilities
    Responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following:
    • Own the underlying technology, structure, and content of the website.
    • Ensure the website design and content is a powerful marketing and communications asset.
    • Manage digital communications content across the website, email, and social media, and all printed materials including our annual magazine and donor report.
    • Own and define all elements of the style guide and advise others on appropriate use. Correct violations.
    • Collaborate with the Admissions Office to define and execute an annual marketing and communications plan.
    • Work collaboratively across the Institutional Advancement team including, Advancement, Admissions, and Alumni/ae Relations, leading to increased engagement, enrollment, and gift production.
    • Work closely with the Board of Trustees and lead the Marketing and Enrollment Committee.
    • Partner in new family meetings with the Head of School.
    • Plan, manage and execute the Marketing & Enrollment Committee.
    • Manage the relationship with marketing (Ed Lewi), communications & public relations (Pierce) consultants.
    • Develop and manage a robust volunteer marketing & communications advocacy program.
    • Invite key members of The Academies leadership to participate in marketing & communications.
    • Travel nationally to meet with constituents and/or attend events.
    • Perform other duties as needed.
    Qualifications
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Minimum of 5 years of marketing and communication experience. Preferably with academic institutions.
    • Proven track record of increased engagement on all communication platforms.
    • Ability to develop strong relationships with a wide range of constituents in a school community.
    • Working knowledge of basic research tools.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including editing and proofing.

  • Extended Day Staff Member

    Schedule:
    • Extended day operates every school day from 3:30 pm-5:30 pm.
    • Position is open to anyone that can consistently work at least 2 days per week
    Responsibilities
    • Receive Pre-School through 4th grade students as they enter the facility
    • Provide age-appropriate activities
    • Ensure student safety
    • Escort students to the parking lot at the end of their day
    Reports to: Judi Morrissey, Extended Day Manager
     
    Status: This is a part-time, hourly position
     
    Compensation: $14.20 - $24.00
     
    Requires a background check and submission of fingerprints to the NY State Education Department
