DON'T MISS 'MEMORABLE' ON FEBRUARY 26 & 27
|

|
Please join us for our Upper School Winter Musical production of “Memorable” on Friday, February 26 from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, February 27 from 2-4 p.m. in the AAG Auditorium.
Our alumnae and alumni from the mid 1950s to early 1960s provided memories of Broadway shows to introduce our Upper School students to Broadway and the perspective of those that came before them. |
This special musical production honors the 50th reunion classes and celebrates our new Head of School Dr. Douglas M. North ’58.
The Upper School Mixed Chorus will be presenting a montage of the “Best of Broadway hits” from 1956 to 1960, including ‘West Side Story,” “Put on a Happy Face,” “Let Me Entertain You” and many more! Each Broadway song will be introduced by students playing scenes based on archival research or written correspondence with alumni/ae from 1956-1960.
For more information, contact Arts Chair Greg Cummings at (518) 429-2300 or cummingsg@albanyacademies.org.

ARTS AT THE ALBANY ACADEMIES
Participation in the Arts is an important aspect of an Academies education. Students are encouraged to pursue a variety of interests beginning at a very young age. Whether is is participation in an art show, concert or theater production, students at the Academies are consistenly called upon to "stand and deliver" and take responsibility for a team or individual effort.
The arts experience is complemented by our Kermani Arts program, which funds workshops and performances by visiting artists each year. Kermani Fine Arts is sponsored by a yearly endowment given by the Kermani Family to fund visiting artists to the Academies. The criterion for the Kermani endowment is to include every student in the arts experience. In the past, we have hosted visual arts sculptor Joseph Smolinski; Alvin Ailey Dance Troup and American Heritage musicians; painter Andrea Bartfield; Jennifer Miller and Co.; and Why Melville Matters installation -- Bill Bergman and Rich Garrison.
In conjunction with Kermani Fine Arts Days, arts education is enriched by the Visiting Artist Series. The Visiting Artists Series is funded by the Parents Association holiday greens sales and greatly enhances our arts program by bringing in artists from within the community to work with our students.
Artists from each discipline (visual art, dance, music, dance and theater) provide art experience opportunities for our students. Among the artists that have visited the Academies include The Lake George Opera, Capital Rep, Komotion and various individual arts and groups. Each school division is targeted throughout the year so that all students have the opportunity to take part in a wide variety of arts experiences.
