Albany Academy for Girls

Meet the Associate Head of School

Welcome to Albany Academy for Girls!

I am astonished by the fact that, over 200 years ago, a handful of Albany leaders defied common practice and ventured upon Betsey Foot’s unprecedented idea: to start an academically challenging school for females.  It took one woman’s heartfelt insight, bold initiative, and venturesome spirit to inspire others to join with her and do a great thing.
To this day, graduates of Albany Academy for Girls show the same mettle as Betsey Foot.  Our girls enthusiastically embrace the world and all its challenges while gracing it with their own individual gifts.  They know there is much to gain from the world, but also much to give.  They learn independence, and at the same time value camaraderie and group productivity.  At AAG we truly foster phenomenal young women!
I warmly encourage you to visit us on Academy Road and see exactly how we provide our girls with a strong Foot-hold for life.
Until we meet – be well,
Donna Ruggiero
Associate Head of School, Albany Academy for Girls
