Taking the Temps
by Nicholas Forcier - Director of Admissions & Enrollment
Every morning I check temperatures at the Middle School entrance on the boys’ side of Academies. It’s a great way to start the day because I’m doing the thing that gives me the most energy: interacting with students. As an administrator, if I’m not careful I can spend too much time in my office and lose touch with the community.
What strikes me every day here at The Albany Academies is how buoyant and well-mannered the middle school students are. This morning, I told a young man (maybe 6th grade) to have a great day, and he responded “And you as well.” That was more formal than what I usually get, but the spirit and the manners are par for the course.
Being right at the front door every morning is the highlight of my day. It gives me a chance to show each student that I’m here, I’m happy to see them, and I’m rooting for them. And in return, they help me remember why I do what I do.
