Single-Gender Education - With a Blend at the End

Boys and Girls are very different. They learn differently; they learn at different rates; they mature on different schedules. There are great advantages to their learning separately from each other—to a point.
Boys and Girls are very different. They learn differently; they learn at different rates; they mature on different schedules. There are great advantages to their learning separately from each other—to a point. Then it is important that they learn to work with each other in preparation for college and for life. That is why The Albany Academies follow a program we call “Single Gender Education with a Blend at the End.” After Pre-School, which is co-ed, all Girls attend
Albany Academy for Girls and all Boys attend The Albany Academy. They wear uniforms and are not distracted by competition in either clothing or personal relations with the other gender.

Single gender education is conducive to leadership development. A few decades ago it was seen that girls benefitted from single gender education because around boys, it was “not cool for girls to be smart.” Now this situation is true of boys as well, where nationally boys are shrinking from leadership positions because “it is not cool for boys to be smart.” At The Albany Academies all the leadership positions at Albany Academy for Girls are held by girls and young women; at The Albany Academy all the leadership positions are held by boys and young men. Here it is definitely cool for everyone to be smart.
