Bio of DEI Partner Stephanie Bramlett

Bio
Stephanie Bramlett is the inaugural Director of Equity and Inclusion at Phillips Exeter Academy. She works with every constituency group at PEA-- all employees, students, parents, trustees, alumni, and the broader Exeter community. Stephanie is the head of the summer Exeter Diversity Institute and is a board member of the New England chapter of People of Color in Independent Schools.
 
She arrived at Exeter from New Canaan, CT where she was most the Director of Inclusive Excellence and Leadership and the Director of the Center for Leadership at St. Luke’s School. In her tenure at St. Luke's, she created both the Social Justice Leadership Summit and the Student Diversity Leadership
Council. She also led teams of staffulty and trustees in the NAIS Assessment of Inclusivity and Multiculturalism and in crafting the SLS 2017 Vision for Inclusive Excellence. She also chaired the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools Commission on Diversity in Independent Schools and founded the Fairchester Hiring Alliance for Faculty of Color in Independent Schools.

Prior to St. Luke's, Stephanie directed a student retention program at the University of New Hampshire for multicultural, first-generation, and low-income college students. She also helped develop the curriculum for UNH's Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Summit, was an academic advisor, and taught in
the Women's Studies and Sociology departments. Stephanie completed her undergraduate at Merrimack College where she majored in Communication, Political Science and Political Philosophy. Her master's degree in Political Science and her doctorate in Sociology were both earned at the University of New Hampshire. She is an active researcher of student retention, academic success, and identity development.

In addition to her scholarship, Stephanie is an avid yogi, marathon runner, aerial dancer, and Crossfit enthusiast.
