Following a Board of Trustees vote on November 30, 2022, The Albany Academies will begin a new multi-year plan to reorganize the schools that will allow the institution to continue to focus on academic excellence and better position itself for the future.
Under the new model, the current Albany Academy for Girls building will house the Early Childhood Center, Lower School, and Middle School and the current Albany Academy building will house the Upper School. The school will retain its current single-sex educational model, with each building organized by grade.

The Board of Trustees decided to implement this plan in order to secure the long-term future of the institution, consolidate resources in developmentally appropriate spaces, increase faculty collaboration within grades and schools, and increase safety by keeping students in their respective buildings and minimizing the need to regularly cross the street and enter/exit school buildings frequently throughout the day.

This plan was put together following a long process that included dozens of outreach meetings with alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and students. The model brings our students together while committing to maintain our traditions and our focus on the education and lifelong success of our students.

As a result of this plan, several capital projects are planned to move facility plans forward in order to provide students with cutting-edge resources. You can find more details in the materials linked on this page.
