Homecoming 2018

On Saturday, September 15, The Albany Academies celebrated our 7th annual Caird Classic. The start of a new school year, new tailgating activities, and our new Head of School Chris Lauricella P’20, ’22 proved to be the perfect combination to bring about some new energy to the Homecoming 2018 festivities.
The day started off with the Annual Tennis Tournament followed by exciting home games for both our AA Junior Varsity and Varsity Soccer teams. The Tailgating Party featured many fun things for the whole family to participate in such as carnival games, hosted by AA and AAG Upper School. The biggest hit was the “Splat!” Sponge-toss where one had the chance to toss wet sponges at our favorite Academies faculty and staff members. First up to be splashed was Head of School Mr. Lauricella P’20, ‘22!
Everyone knows that you can’t tailgate without good old-fashioned barbeque. The Albany Academies would like to extend a big thank you to the AA Alumni Association for not only hosting our Tailgate Party, but putting together a delicious spread of hotdogs, sausages and hamburgers for all! Another tailgating essential made its appearance during the tailgating party: Chili. The Office of Admissions hosted a Chili Cook-Off, featuring the culinary styling of several faculty members. Faculty and staff members entered the competition, and after several hours of tasting and voting, Dodie Motley was crowned this year’s winner. Congratulations Mrs. Motley!
Everyone quickly filled the stands for what would be an exciting game against St. Luke’s School. In the second quarter of the game, we were tied 7-7. The stands buzzed with excitement and anticipation of who would pull out as the victor. After a very close game, the Cadets lost by only two points!
Thank you to all students, families, faculty and staff, alumni and alumnae who came out and showed their support for the Academies and its players. We’d like to extend an additional thank you to all who made this weekend possible and so special: The Albany Academies Parents Association, The Athletics Council, and the Alumni & Alumnae Associations as well as Coccadotts and Sarabella’s Pizza.
We can’t wait to see you all next year for the big homecoming game!
