Summer Programs

New York on Pause and New York Forward have created significant disruptions to our normal camp operations. Upon review of preliminary NY State camp regulations and procedural changes in response to COVID-19 we have determined that we will be unable to deliver many of our programs the way they were uniquely designed and originally intended.

Regrettably, we have concluded that we are unable to offer the following programs or program sessions this summer:
  • Classic Day Camp, June 15-June 26
  • Adventures in Sports, June 15-June 26
  • LEAP-All three sessions (See virtual camp options, below)
  • Little Leap/Jr. Leap, June 15-July 24
  • Baseball Academy
  • Science Academy
  • Musical Theater (we will run Frozen Jr in 2021)
  • Rocketry Camp (See virtual camp options, below)
  • The Leading Edge (See virtual camp options, below)
  • Leaps & Bounds Adventure Camp
  • Driver’s Education
In addition, the following program sessions are currently “To Be Determined” pending more clarity from New York State:
  • Classic Day Camp July 27-August 14
  • Little Leap/Jr. Leap, July 27-August 14
  • Adventures in Art, July 27-July 31

Virtual Camps.
We will continue to offer high quality educational programs including LEAP, Rocketry, and The Leading Edge virtually. Virtual LEAP will be available for two, three-week sessions offered July 6 to August 14, and our LEAP teachers are enthusiastically transforming many traditional LEAP offerings into Google Classrooms, as well as developing a few new courses.

Virtual Classes.
We will be offering a number of virtual academic programs taught by Albany Academies faculty members which will be open to the public. Information on all of these programs will follow our website in the near future.

We are so sorry to share this unfortunate news and thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time. As always, the health and safety of our campers, staff, and families remain our primary concern. If you have any questions, please contact the Director of Summer Programs Karin Epstein at epsteink@albanyacademies.org.

What people are saying about Summer Programs at The Albany Academies:

"The camp is well organized with good communication to the parents. As a parent, I like the co-ed classes in the summer and the consistent, high quality of the teachers through out the sessions. Our son loves everything about camp!"

"The LEAP program is very unique and my daughter enjoys it every year. I like the fact that classes are taught by teachers, not simply run by counselors. That being said, the counselors play a wonderful role in the program, as well."

"LEAP is a great concept. Variety is extremely fun with opportunity to meet more kids with common interest."

"I love that kids are active all day. My son was always ready for bed. He was so chatty. I could tell he was actively engaged throughout the day."

"The program is well organized. The kids are closely monitored by teachers and staff, and the activities are academic and fun. The teachers really worked to build a rapport with the campers. It was a great experience."

"My daughters had a terrific experience. Best camps they have ever attended!"

The Albany Academies' summer camps are required to be permitted to operate by the Albany County Health Department. The camps and facilities are inspected twice yearly. Inspection reports are filed with the Albany County Department of Health at 175 Green Street, Albany, NY 12202.
