Lower School

Welcome to The Albany Academies' Lower School, where young minds blossom, curiosity sparks, and learning is an adventure. We're dedicated to providing a foundation of excellence that fosters creativity and a love for learning. Our passionate educators strive to create a supportive atmosphere, cultivating each child’s unique potential. Our commitment is to cultivate lifelong learners and compassionate leaders who contribute meaningfully to a global society. Together, let's embark on a journey of discovery, growth, and educational excellence.
Our lower school program provides a strong foundation that prepares students for the increased rigor they'll encounter later in their academic journey. We don't teach to the test, so our teachers can follow students' interests and natural curiosity. Students become more engaged and develop a true love of learning. Small classes, where teachers can really get to know each student, are at the heart of our philosophy. It enables teachers to give personal support and individualized instruction that ensures each child thrives.
Our lower school is a nurturing family-like environment where students gain more than academic skills. There is a strong focus on building character, self-confidence, resilience, and interpersonal skills. These are important building blocks that play a large role in how well a student does in middle and upper school—and in life.
Our focus is on educating the whole student. Lower school students are immersed in a world of enriching opportunities such as public speaking and learning a second language—opportunities that aren't offered in most schools at this age level. To develop their creativity, students are introduced to an extensive arts program that includes theater, dance, music, and the visual arts. Physical education is part of every day and includes access to facilities like our swimming pool and skating rink.
