Academics

Lower School

Welcome to Arts at The Albany Academies' Lower School, where we introduce students to all aspects of the arts to build a foundation of excellence.
Academics
Our lower school program provides a strong foundation that prepares students for the increased rigor they'll encounter later in their academic journey. We don't teach to the test, so our teachers can follow students' interests and natural curiosity. Students become more engaged and develop a true love of learning. Small classes, where teachers can really get to know each student, are at the heart of our philosophy. It enables teachers to give personal support and individualized instruction that ensures each child thrives.
Culture
Our lower school is a nurturing family-like environment where students gain more than academic skills. There is a strong focus on building character, self-confidence, resilience, and interpersonal skills. These are important building blocks that play a large role in how well a student does in middle and upper school—and in life.
Opportunities
Our focus is on educating the whole student. Lower school students are immersed in a world of enriching opportunities such as public speaking and learning a second language-- opportunities that aren't offered in most schools at this age.
