Discover Athletics at the Academies

Physical Education and Athletics teach students they can go far beyond what they thought they could do.

This is transferable to the classroom, because they have learned to persevere through challenge and difficulty.

The Albany Academies are justly renowned for their athletic teams, including the number of sports teams that students can select from, the teams' success, and their fierce competitiveness on the field, court, or mat.

But winning isn’t everything here, or the only thing. Athletics and physical education are very important components of leadership and character development.

One of our mottos is, "Everyone plays," which means that throughout the Lower School every student is involved in Physical Education, and as competitive teams begin to form in the Middle & Upper Schools, students are still required to be on at least two teams and continue physical training.

Academy students have access to an unmatched array of athletic facilities, including an indoor suspended track; two international squash courts; four gymnasiums; two fully equipped weight rooms; an aerobics room; an indoor swimming pool; indoor ice rink; six tennis courts; an all-weather 400-meter track; an indoor athletic practice facility, and acres of athletic fields.
Many of our coaches are also teachers creating a unique support system for our student-athletes.
