Armen Garo '73
Armen Garo is remembered by most as the menacing Salvatore “Coco” Cogliano on HBO’s The Sopranos. He was born and raised in Troy, New York, and graduated from The Albany Academy, Class of ‘73. While at the Academy, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant in Band Company and won the annual Declamation Contest all three times he was eligible, winning in the Third, Fourth, and Sixth Forms. His other noteworthy appearances include The Departed (Best Picture 2007), American Hustle, The Wolf of Wall Street, By the Gun, Friends, and Romans, HBO’s Vinyl, Cafe’ Society, and a guest appearance in Gotham.
ETEC Building
We are excited to be holding this year’s Mid-Winter Gathering in UAlbany’s ETEC building. Many thanks to Kirk Harbinger ’85, a member of the Alumni Association Board and UAlbany’s development office in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, for hosting us. ETEC is a hub for innovation, scholarship, applied research and commercial development designed to foster cross-disciplinary collaborations to confront complex problems. Students, faculty, and researchers work hand-in-hand with entrepreneurs to translate new knowledge into creative solutions that fuel economic growth and create jobs. The ETEC building is a $180 million, 246,000 square foot state-of-the-art building that houses researchers, educators, and entrepreneurs under the same roof as some of UAlbany’s fastest-growing programs.
