Faculty Positions

  • Librarian, AA

    The Albany Academy is seeking a dynamic, collaborative educator to work with Lower and Middle School students in our Pre-K through Grade 6 Library. The Librarian must be comfortable with high-visibility and committed to educating creative and curious boys in a supportive yet rigorous atmosphere in order to instill a love of reading, research, and learning in all students.
     
    The ideal candidate will be vibrant and foster a synergetic atmosphere, assuming a progressive approach, especially in teaching principles of media literacy in schools. This team player will support faculty in order to promote a project-based, active learning curriculum, and will include creative outreach to students and parents, alike. In addition, the Librarian will orchestrate day-to-day operations of the Library, including maintaining its budget and the collection.

    The Librarian teaches Lower School library classes and Middle School research skills classes. S/he takes an active part in the life of the School community. The successful candidate will be passionate about educating boys and possess a positive outlook, imagination, and a good sense of humor, MLS or MLIS degree preferred, have excellent communication and organization skills, experience, and zest.

  • Modified Softball Coach

    Description: Albany Academy for Girls is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Modified Softball Coach for the Spring 2019 Season.
    Successful Candidates will:
    • Be positive, caring, and supportive of the school’s mission statement and be dedicated to the overall development of young people as student athletes.
    • Work collaboratively with coaches, students, faculty, parents, and administrators.
    • Role model the behavior which the program demands.
    • Possess strong communication skills, be very well organized, and have a passion for the sport.

    Softball Coaching experience at the middle school, high school or club level, as well as a background as a competitive player, is recommended.
    Responsibilities include:
    • Execute all team practices and games.
    • Provide basic medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
    • Ability to execute emergency plan for athletic facilities.
    • Meet department coaching standards and season planning expectations.
    • Assistant to the Varsity Coach.

    Education:
    • High school diploma required. College Degree / In Progress preferred.
    • NYS Coaching Certification / In Progress Certification.
