Academy 2 - 0 LaSalle

Academy traveled to LaSalle for their regular season finale looking to sweep their old rivals for the first time in four years after a dominant couple seasons by the Troy Cadets. They did just that in an extremely wild and hard fought game 2-0. LaSalle came out on their Breast Cancer Awareness night with energy - and carried the play in the first part of the match. They had several chances but Academy goaltender Will Hayes was cool and composed - making all the right decisions. Academy was able to take a 1-0 lead despite LaSalle's pace - on a great service into the box by Academy's leader in the middle of the field, Kyah Lah Hsee, finished off by up-and-comer Amos Stack. Stack earned his 9th goal of the season. Albany was able to settle down and the play went back and forth for the rest of the half - with both teams getting high percentage chances. LaSalle had a player alone in the box, but once again Hayes made a high quality save. Every play, indeed every ball, seemed to be highly contested and emotions ran high as they usually do when these teams meet. The first 20 in the second half was all Academy, with possession and ball movement typical of their play when they're on their game - truly an 11-man unit. They earned a 2-0 lead on a phenomenal individual effort by Lah Hsee, who beat his man on a pass from the keeper and was in all alone. He was calm and methodical taking it from 15 yards outside the box to the goal - something of a rarity on these types of chances - and calmly finished off the play at the six, where the keeper had no chance. It looked like Academy took a 3-0 lead on another great play by captain Rory McGuire - but they didn't get the call. The game then got even more physical than the first half. There was little flow afterwards and the refs struggled to keep control as certain players got too carried away on both sides. Play had to stop at least six or seven times for players getting hurt and cards being delivered. LaSalle had a few more good chances to score - none better than a wonderful shot from 30+ yards out - that glanced off the crossbar and out of play. Academy was able to close this one out and finishes on a 3-game winning streak to carry some momentum into the postseason. Both Cadet teams await their fate from the Section 2 seeding meeting on Monday - where it will be decided which teams play on Tuesday and which teams play on Wednesday.
